The new Santa Rosa fire station is designed to take advantage of its surrounding topography, creating a structure that is as functional as it is visually appealing.
We took on Strategic Planning, Design and Planning, and Construction to make it happen. Using the 1.1 acre hillside to shield the building from surrounding use, the 5,475 S.F. station provides the fire department staff with easy ingress and egress for fire apparatus and the public with safe and simple access.
The existing grades along Newgate Court and the shared access road are maintained to create a visual buffer or berm. And we lowered the finish floor elevation of the station using small retaining walls in the parking area, driveways and around the perimeter of the new station.
By reducing the impact of the new building to fit the scale of the adjacent residential neighborhood, the station was able to meet all Santa Rosa’s safety and aesthetic needs.
