The Oakmont Village Association (OVA), as part of a facility assessment that looked at all of Oakmont’s common area buildings, determined that the administrative offices for the community were in sub-standard facilities. In response to OVA’s administrative needs, ArchiLOGIX was hired to facilitate phased programming and space planning that not only addressed the administrative functions, but also recognized the need for additional spaces that other buildings lacked.
With the facility planning criteria developed by the OVA sub-committee several sites were tested as possible locations for this new building. In the end, the central part of Oakmont that housed the Berger and Central Activity Centers, the main community pool, lawn bowling facilities as well as a newly refurbished central outdoor plaza was deemed the perfect fit for a new administrative building
The proposed building was intended to become the final piece of a central campus of community buildings. The new admin building became the backdrop for activated outdoor spaces that served as a community “town green” for various functions that would complement the central outdoor plaza. The architectural approach mirrored the profile and detailing of the Central Activity Center and the transparent character of the Berger Center. The attached images reflect the personable and inviting nature of this new building. As the “town hall” of Oakmont the building tries to convey the open and inclusive approach of how the community governs itself.
