The Storage Pro II project is a mixed use development adjacent to the Storage Pro development in East Santa Rosa along Highway 12. Phase II includes development of a 126,800 sf storage building to further serve storage needs in Santa Rosa and 30 Garden Apartments comprised of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom units. ArchiLOGIX designed the storage facility and partnered with SDG Architects for the design of the residential units. The site is designed to connect with the existing Storage Pro facility where vehicular access to the phase II storage building is accomodated through the phase I site. The Garden Apartments and storage facility portions of the site are seperated by a secured gate. The residential buildings and storage facility sit between Sonoma Highway (HWY 12) and the Santa Rosa Creek and public trail. A bioretention area at the rear of the site is designed to compliment the Santa Rosa Creek Trail environment. Site design for this project required coordination with Santa Rosa's Waterways Advisory Committee, Capital Works, and Board of Public Utilities to preserve the existing creek and public path vegetation along the creek corridor.
The new storage building is organized around interior corridors leading to individual storage spaces. Storage units on the ground level have direct access from drive aisles and upper level units are accessed by elevators. Site landscaping is characterized by California native plants matching the phase I treatment of the Santa Rosa Creek environment.
Site layout is designed to promote a pedestrian friendly environment with the apartment building adjcent to HWY 12 street frontage with entry points from the public way. Open space improvements include private seating within common areas that are shieled by a low wall and lush lanscaping from the busy Highway 12. Parking is designed on the interior and is generally away from public view.
The residential architecture, designed by SDG Architects, is an updated "Farmhouse" vernacular that is a charactaristic style in Santa Rosa and the style is consistent with the surrounding developments. Units are accessed by stairways providing vertical and horizonal circulation around the site. Each unit will have a private deck or patio with horizontal composite railings or similar looking fences around the patios. The color and material blocking of the residentail building was designed to create bth horizontal and vertical rhythm across the building facade.
