Storage Pro is a self-storage facility designed to service the eastern area of the city of Santa Rosa. The project consists of three buildings, each of which are three stories tall, with a total square footage of approximately 29,650 sq. ft. Building 1, fronting Sonoma Highway, will contain a small office for reception and an on-site manager. Proposed buildings are situated to preserve a native oak grove along the northeastern portion of the site while maintaining required setbacks from Santa Rosa Creek.
Building #1 uses an expansive window wall system on the north and east building elevations. The west elevation for this building creates a visual rhythm of alternating materials and articulations. The office/reception area in Building #1 is the only area of the project that will be heated and cooled. Natural ventilation occurring at the operable windows located in corridors will be accompanied by mechanical ventilation to service the rest of the facility.
Buildings are predominantly organized around interior corridors leading to individual storage spaces. Storage units on the lower level have direct access from the site plan drive aisles. Upper levels are accessed through elevators located in each building.
Pole-mounted lights will illuminate the area and the entry gate for safe pedestrian and vehicular access. Building mounted lights use a focused wall sconce to highlight building entries at lobbies and first level storage spaces. Existing oak trees at the site entrance have lower voltage accent lights. All lighting was designed and located to prevent light and glare on neighboring properties.
The site is accessed via a single driveway off of Sonoma Highway. Five parking spaces are proposed, including one handicap-accessible parking space. Drive aisles around buildings contain space for loading and unloading customer vehicles. Bicycle parking is also provided as per zoning requirements.
California native plants were used for site landscaping in order to create a natural aesthetic as well as to provide for low maintenance and reduced water needs. Plantings have been structured and located to reduce building mass, and ensure safety and security for site users. Existing mature trees (specifically oaks) were preserved wherever possible.
